MEET ASHTON

Whether you know him as Ashton or by his social media name, Parker, one thing is clear the moment you sit in his chair: he genuinely loves what he does.

After spending three years cutting hair for friends and family, Ashton decided to turn his passion into a career. He is currently completing the West Virginia Barber Apprenticeship Program at Marchell's Barbershop, where he trains under experienced mentors and builds his skills behind the chair every day.

Many people are surprised to learn that barbering involves much more than cutting hair. Apprentices complete thousands of hours of hands-on training while studying anatomy, hair and scalp science, chemistry, sanitation, infection control, and straight razor safety. At Marchell's Barbershop, our apprenticeship program requires twice the hands-on training hours of West Virginia barber school programs.

Ashton enjoys creating tapers, fades, beard trims, and modern mullets, but his favorite part of barbering is connecting with people and seeing the confidence a great haircut can bring. He believes every service starts with listening, asking the right questions, and helping you find a style that fits your look and your lifestyle.

He also enjoys teaching clients about their hair type, which products to use, and how to keep their style looking good between visits.

Outside the shop, Ashton enjoys golfing, spending time with family and his girlfriend, listening to music, and cheering on the Patriots. One day, he would love to visit Sweden.

His goal is simple: he wants every client to leave feeling more confident than when they arrived. The compliment that means the most to him is hearing someone say it was the best haircut they have ever had, because he truly listened.

For first-time clients, his advice is simple: don't be nervous, and bring inspiration photos if you have them. Together, you will create a look that fits your style.

To Ashton, treating every client like family means being genuine, listening, building trust, and showing every person the same respect he gives his own family.

If you're looking for someone who is passionate about his craft, committed to learning, and dedicated to giving every client his best, Ashton would love to welcome you to his chair.

ASHTON'S CUTS

MEET JAY

Jay may be new to our apprentice program, but he is definitely not new to cutting hair. He picked up his first clippers at just 14 years old, and 21 years later, his love for barbering is still going strong. Now he is ready to take that experience to the next level, earn his barber license, and continue building his skills behind the chair.

Jay especially enjoys bald fades, beard edge-ups, and hair designs. During his apprenticeship, he is looking forward to sharpening his design work while expanding his skills in scissor cutting, beard services, and skin care. He is drawn to modern barbering and wants to continue developing the precision and attention to detail that take a good cut to the next level.

For Jay, being a great barber is about more than the haircut. He believes a barber should be respectful, have strong values, make people laugh, and be someone clients can talk to, whether they need advice about their hair, the right products, or sometimes just life.

Outside the shop, Jay enjoys working out, camping, hunting, and spending time with his kids and family. He speaks Spanish, loves blues music and Mexican food, runs on Red Bull, and somehow manages to be both an early bird and a night owl. His ultimate goal is to own his own barbershop one day, and we are excited to have him taking the next step in that journey with us at Marchell’s.
